Summer 2026 is in full swing in Montreal and the lineup is exceptional: music, fireworks, digital arts and free activities run non-stop until the end of August. Only one challenge remains: getting around efficiently when tens of thousands of festival-goers converge on the same venues. Here are the season's biggest events and our tips to make the most of them.
L'International des Feux Loto-Québec — until August 6
The 40th edition of L'International des Feux Loto-Québec lights up Montreal's sky over the St. Lawrence River, near the Jacques-Cartier Bridge and La Ronde. Hungary, Italy, China, Canada, the United States and Australia compete with 30-minute pyrotechnic performances. A grandiose show, visible from several spots across the city.
On fireworks nights, the Jacques-Cartier Bridge is closed to traffic and nearby streets are jammed. Book your taxi in advance and agree on a pickup point a few streets away from the site: you'll be on your way long before the crowd.
Osheaga — July 31 to August 2 at Parc Jean-Drapeau
Osheaga turns Parc Jean-Drapeau into a giant playground for music lovers. The 2026 edition brings headliners like Twenty One Pilots, Tate McRae, The Neighbourhood, Empire of the Sun and Lorde, alongside a wealth of local and international discoveries over three full days.
Getting there the smart way
- Parking on the island is very limited on festival days: avoid taking your own car
- A taxi drops you off and picks you up as close as possible to the entrances, no endless walking
- When the venues close, the metro is packed: a pre-booked ride saves you the wait
- For groups, a van often costs less than several tickets and is far more comfortable
îLESONIQ and MUTEK to close out the summer
On August 8 and 9, Parc Jean-Drapeau hosts îLESONIQ, one of the country's biggest electronic music festivals, featuring Dom Dolla, Chris Lake, Deadmau5 and Rezz. Then from August 25 to 30, MUTEK gathers electronic music and digital arts creators from around the world.
