Traveling with Children: Our Tips for a Smooth Ride

Traveling with children requires special planning, and the trip to the airport is no exception. Whether your little ones are 6 months or 10 years old, a bit of preparation turns what could be a stressful moment into a pleasant part of the journey. Our taxi service to YUL is specially equipped to welcome families. Here are our best tips.

The Car Seat Question

For your children's safety, we recommend using a car seat appropriate for their age and weight. At Taxi Airport Montreal YUL, we offer booster seats and infant car seats (carrier type) upon request when booking. Please note that additional fees may apply for this service, as our drivers need to install the seat before your pickup and remove it afterward, and the seat takes up space that could be used by other passengers. Simply indicate your children's age and weight when booking, and we'll take care of the rest.

Tip

Book at least 24 hours in advance if you need an infant car seat or booster seat. Specify each child's age and weight so we can install the right equipment.

Choosing the Right Departure Time

If you have a choice, plan your trip to the airport around your children's schedule. An early morning departure (before 7 AM) or mid-morning (after 9:30 AM) helps avoid traffic jams and rush hour stress. Children are often calmer in the morning. For babies, try to time the ride with nap time.

Preparing an Entertainment Kit

A 25-35 minute taxi ride can feel long for a 3-year-old. Prepare a small bag with quiet activities: picture books, coloring books, favorite toys and snacks. A busy child is a calm child. Choose hands-on activities over screens for your children's well-being.

  • Tablet or phone with downloaded content and headphones (not recommended — prefer screen-free activities)
  • A few books or activity booklets
  • Healthy snacks (granola bars, applesauce pouches, crackers)
  • Water bottle
  • Favorite stuffed animal or comfort toy
  • Wet wipes and tissues
  • Change of clothes in an accessible bag

Packing Luggage Smartly

With children, you inevitably have more luggage. Our taxi service has spacious vehicles (sedans and minivans) that can accommodate strollers, suitcases and backpacks. For larger families or those with lots of luggage, choose our minivan which offers generous space for everyone and all the gear.

The Comfort of a Taxi vs Public Transit

Picture this: you on the 747 bus with a folded stroller, two suitcases, a backpack, a child in your arms and another tugging at your sleeve. Now imagine the same family in a comfortable taxi, children buckled in their car seats, luggage in the trunk, temperature set just right. The choice is obvious. A taxi is an investment in your family's peace of mind.

Traveling with three children under 7 is an adventure. The taxi to the airport is the only moment I'm sure everyone is safe and relaxed.

Safety Tips for the Ride

  • Make sure the car seat is properly secured before starting
  • Never leave a child alone in the vehicle, even for a minute
  • Keep doors locked with child safety locks engaged
  • Have the driver's contact information in case of need
  • Prepare a small "emergency" bag accessible during the ride

Arriving at YUL with Children

At the airport, take advantage of the dedicated children's play areas in the terminal. Some airline counters offer priority check-in for families. Also ask for priority boarding at the gate: most airlines allow families with young children to board first.

Travel with your family in complete peace of mind. Book a taxi with a child seat for your next departure from YUL.
